The Brown laboratory periodically has positions available for hard-working, qualified applicants.


Postdoctoral Fellows:
Please forward a copy of your CV/resume, a brief statement of your research interest, and contact information for three professional references to Dr. Alex Brown. In your cover letter please indicate your citizenship ands/or current visa status (if non-US citizen), and your potential start date.

  • Postdoctoral associates with backgrounds in biochemistry, pharmacology, or molecular biology:

Positions are available for individuals with Ph.D. or M.D. degrees to work on projects in the areas of:
1. Cell Signaling and Cancer
2. Molecular Mechanisms of Regulated Exocytosis.

  • Analytical and organic chemistry positions:

Postdoctoral positions for Ph.D. level individuals with backgrounds in either analytical or organic chemistry to work in the Computational Lipidomics sub-group within the laboratory will be considered. We are involved in multiple projects related to the analysis of changes in cellular lipid composition and its role in cell functions and disease. Our laboratory works closely with the Vanderbilt Mass Spectrometry Core Facility as well as The Vanderbilt Institute for Chemical Biology.

  • Computational biology and mathematics positions:

Postdoctoral positions for Ph.D. level individuals with backgrounds in either mathematics, or physics to work in the Computational Biology sub-group within the laboratory will be considered. We are involved in multiple projects related to the analysis of changes in cellular lipid composition and its role in cell functions and disease. Dr. Brown is on the Executive Committee of the Vanderbilt Biomathematics Program.


Research Assistants:
Currently there are no technical positions available in the laboratory.
Individuals with MS level degrees in computer programming and bioinformatics will be considered for future positions.

Graduate and medical students already enrolled at Vanderbilt University should contact Dr. Brown directly regarding research opportunities.
