Jeffrey S. Forrester, Ph.D.,
State University of New York at Binghamton

Jeff Forrester is a Mathematician working in the laboratory who specializes in statistical analysis and mathematical/computer modeling. Jeff is the Project Coordinator for the Lipidomics Laboratory, Alliance for Cellular Signaling (AfCS). His recent work includes the development of computer algorithms for the rapid analysis of mass spectral data. The results of this analysis are presented as a qualitative map of lipid changes at the species level between two biological conditions, similar to proteomic and genomic technologies. In the coming year Jeff will be developing new technology for the quantitative assaying of cellular phospholipids using mass spectrometry with the LIPID MAPS consortium and working on the mathematical modeling of lipid mediated signaling events with the AfCS. Jeff is a member of the American Statistical Association and the American Mathematical Association. His mathematical interests include topology, complex systems modeling and asymptotic statistics.
